When I was a high school student In Germany, our geography teacher introduced us to central America, Especially Guatemala and Costa Rica. As a young man, right out of college, he worked as a private teacher in both countries. Especially his description of Costa Rica has stayed with me ever since.   My dream of visiting the country came true around 25 years ago after my son moved to Costa Rica. Since I lived in New York City at the time, a flight down south was easy and quick. During every trip, I explored different areas of the country and fell in love with the people, flora and fauna, magnificently different landscapes, climate zones, and fascinating cultural history.   And 15 years ago, I decided to leave all the hustle and bustle of the city behind me and move to the land of Pura Vida. I applied for residency, purchased a house in the central valley as my “pied-a-Tierre,” and did not regret it for one day!   After visiting friends on the Caribbean Coast of Costa Rica for many years, I fell in love with the area south of Limon. Here you still have the “Hey Mon” feel; the Caribbean island’s cuisines influence the food, and you hear reggae, calypso, ska, and other rhythms passing the pass in Cahuita and Puerto Viejo.   This year I decided to move to my new favorite shores and would like to introduce you to all my special places.
