Costa Rica Residency Category Qualification Requirement Price Change From $200,000 to only $150,000 USD now


Here is the big announcement today from the Dirección General de Migración y Extranjería Costa Rica, translated to English in the residency world that has been years in the making:

 

 

“This Wednesday, the Presidency of the Republic signed the regulation to Law No. 9996 for the attraction of investors, tenant residents, and retired residents, which, for the regulation of migration of foreigners under the investor subcategory, with back on investments not less than $150,000, sets requirements for the 6 types of investment regulated in law No. 9996, namely: real estate and registerable real estate, shares, values, projects of national or productive interest, venture capital funds, sustainable tourism infrastructure projects, being able to combine types of investment.

In addition, regulate the treatment for the application of tax exemptions for investors, tenant residents, and retired residents as established in law (import of house management, import of up to 2 transport vehicles, land, air and/or sea, 20% of the total real estate transfer tax, taxes of import for instruments or materials for professional or scientific exercise).” –Dirección General de Migración y Extranjería Costa Rica
